What’s in store

Sincere Sheep Shepherdess Worsted now available at Fringe Supply Co

After months of hints and promises from me, Sincere Sheep’s new Shepherdess Worsted is finally available at Fringe Supply Co.! Like a meritage of only the best red grapes, this yarn is a blend of fine wools resulting in a softness rating equivalent to merino. It’s a fantastic all-around yarn suitable for any worsted-weight pattern — all naturally dyed, of course, by Brooke Sinnes herself in Napa CA. A skein of any one of these colors would be great for knitting yesterday’s ribbed hat. In fact, I’m a little obsessed with the idea of knitting it in that almost-acid green. (I used to have a thin wool wrap this color and it was bizarre how it went with absolutely everything — especially a trench coat.)

Thanks again for the great conversation this week. If you haven’t weighed in about winding yet, it’s never too late! In store for the blog next week: I have another amazing installment of Our Tools, Ourselves; a collaboration for the shop that’s been months in the making, which I’m profoundly excited about; and if I get all the bits together in time, a new super easy and charming fingerless mitts pattern! So have a great weekend (tell me what you’re making!) and I’ll see you back here next week—

A special Sincere Sheep shopping event for readers

Sincere Sheep yarn special shopping event at Fringe Association / Fringe Supply Co.

Sitting in my studio Sunday afternoon, gazing at this beautiful rack of yarn, I had an idea.

For the open house this weekend, Brooke Sinnes of Sincere Sheep was here with a mighty rack full of yarns — including a whole bunch of gorgeous yarn bases/colors not normally found at Fringe Supply Co. As it turns out, she left the rack here until next weekend, along with the yarns seen in the photo above. And it occurred to me: Wouldn’t it be great if my beloved blog readers could shop from this rack? So from now until midnight Saturday (11:59 PDT, July 6, 2013), that’s what we’re gonna do!

There are four bases here (detailed below) in a whole smattering of colors. Sales of these yarns will be conducted entirely by email, since they are not available in the webshop. If you see something you think you might like, email contact@fringesupplyco.com and I’ll be your personal shopper. You can ask me how many are available of a given color/type, tell me that you’d like to see, for instance, all of the blue-greens in the Equity or all of the purples in the Shepherdess, or whatever you’re interested in, and I’ll respond with supporting images and details. When you’ve made your selections, I’ll email you an electronic invoice (via PayPal), which you can settle with any major credit card. You may also request that regular items from the shop be added to your special order, and they’ll be invoiced along with the yarn. And for the duration of this event, purchases made in this fashion, containing yarn, and that exceed $75 will ship for free within the US. (International customers, as always, email me for a shipping quote.)
