What I love about KnitWit magazine is it’s a fiber nerd’s version of a fashion magazine, right? It makes knitting and dyeing and weaving and quilting and other fiber-y pursuits look just as exotic and capital-F Fabulous as I personally find them to be! And it celebrates makers and their lives — through studio visits and interviews and such — rather than giving us things to make, like a traditional knitting magazine. But there’s always been something a little unsatisfying about the covers — no matter how incredibly beautiful they’ve been — and I couldn’t have told you why exactly until I saw Maura Grace Ambrose (of Folk Fibers fame) in place of a model on the cover of the just-landed Issue 4. Maura is one of the most inspiring women in the maker community, truly walking the walk, and there could be no better way to truly celebrate the brilliant makers among us than to bump the models off the cover to make room for one of us. So I wanted to let you know the new issue is here — and that it’s terrific — but I also wanted to give a great big shout-out to KnitWit for making this thrilling move.
